Lab Date: May 22, 2014

  • Tyler Wicker, Researcher/Tester
  • Chris Gibson, Researcher/Tester
  • Sal Realmuto, Researcher/Tester
  • Gabe Markowitz, Researcher/ Tester

Lab Information and Procedure
  • Professor talked about what needed to be done to make our final papers better than our drafts were.  The group knows work needs to be done, so modifications will be done in the near future.
  • In Week 8, we came prepared with our final design. This design entailed 612.88 square inches of paper, which is 135.12 square inches less than 4 sheets of paper. This trail was our lowest amount of paper used so far and it also went way beyond the required failure weight.
  • We also tried to get a failure weight so we then used 598.96 square inches of paper, which is 149.04 square inches less than 4 pieces. This design failed at 140 pounds. This then allowed us to build off this failure weight and aim to get a design between this structure and our previous final design proposal.

Post Lab
  • Brainstorming ideas on how to eliminate more paper without making the wall fail instantly was done.
  • Some modifications were done to the report.
